BonBon’s event lineup is truly spectacular encompassing the celebration of the $260 million international terminal expansion with a special staff event, a Creator’s Brunch, the unveiling of Bonza and AirAsia bases accompanied by two Bonza Media Activations, AirAsia’s Kuala Lumpur extravaganza, and the unforgettable Visions and Values Staff Launch.

Sneak peek: unveiling the terminal expansion for staff
Before the inaugural wave of domestic passengers surged through the landmark extension at Gold Coast Airport, staff were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the brand-new terminal, complete with their own fanfare, prior to its official opening.
BonBon took pride in being part of the milestone premiere of a project that had been in the pipeline for six years. Set against the backdrop of unrivalled hinterland views, staff reveled in a bespoke lunch, fabulous entertainment and delectable sweet treats.
Global gateway grand unveiling
The Gold Coast welcomed its first international travellers through the $260 million terminal expansion in late 2022. BonBon was up at the crack of dawn to help welcome around 320 passengers arriving on an early morning flight from Singapore at the revamped multi-level terminal.
To celebrate six new gates and 19 new aircraft on the tarmac, BonBon provided styling, refreshments, cookies for kids and branded space for a national and regional media call which included hosting Sunrise with our friends at Aruga.
Bonza takes flight
BonBon transformed Gold Coast Airport with a sea of purple, setting the stage for the grand announcement of Bonza Airline’s expansion to a third Australian base and celebrating takeoff of its inaugural flight.
With the arrival of Bonza, the Gold Coast embraced 11 exciting new routes, expanding its connection to the world and inviting travellers to explore even more destinations. BonBon delivered two cracking activations including a media launch for the initial announcement and a welcome party for passengers departing from the first official flight. BonBon was tasked in setting the perfect scene, enhanced by on–brand theming.
Gold Coast Airport was transformed with vibrant purple decorations, branded eskies brimming with refreshments, and Bonza beach cricket. Catering services provided purple-themed snacks and drinks, complementing the overall ambiance. With a focus on media engagement, presentations were conducted, interview opportunities facilitated, and social media buzz encouraged, ensuring maximum impact and coverage for the launch.
Brunching brilliance
To celebrate the opening of the International Terminal expansion, BonBon facilitated brunch with first-class views. With a star-studded lineup of VIP Content Creators, BonBon orchestrated an exclusive preview of the International Departures Terminal, boasting breathtaking views of the sweeping Gold Coast Hinterland.
Guests enjoyed a lavish brunch experience with meticulous attention to detail, personalised touches, and curated gift boxes. Engaging activities like fashion sketches and custom GCA luggage tags enhanced the event, fostering interaction and leaving a lasting impression.
AirAsia soars
AirAsia enlisted BonBon’s guidance to showcase its role as a key international travel partner of Gold Coast Airport as they announced a route between the Gold Coast and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. BonBon crafted an in-terminal activation welcome event infused with the quintessential flair of the Gold Coast for guests arriving on the inaugural AirAsia flight arriving from Kuala Lumpur.
With several VIP Clients in attendance including AirAsia’s Global CEO a second activation was held to showcase Kuala Lumpar to guests at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast. Traditional games, merchandise giveaways, branding and a bespoke Indonesian chef to allow guests to sample local treats.
Unveiling visions and values with flair
In honour of Queensland Airports Limited’s 20th Anniversary, a revamped set of Visions and Values was unveiled to the entire organisation. BonBon was entrusted to create a staff celebration that resonated with the new vision and values while also fostering a deeper connection to the brand’s new direction.
Employing a blend of creativity and ingenuity, BonBon curated a memorable staff celebration complete with a custom-designed cake, themed furniture, engaging lawn games, lively music and a local food truck serving Mexican fare.
